Railway museum & steam train

📍 Jan Pellenbargweg 1, Valkenburg 🚗 12 min 🚲 31 min

Go back 100 years in time in the steam locomotive! Take a ride and visit the narrow gauge railway museum.

The steam locomotive

Great fun with the kids! Visitors board the steam train at Katwijk Leiden station on the edge of the Valkenburg Lake. The locomotive is a steam train that many grandparents remember from their childhood. The ride preserves the authentic atmosphere; for example, the conductor blows his whistle on departure, throws some more coal on the fire and passengers enjoy the view in the wooden carriages.

The museum

The authentic atmosphere is also preserved in the museum. You can find antique carriages such as the steam and diesel locomotives, and the engine driver's office still has his jacket with an oil lamp. There is a lot of history in the museum and it is perfect for children.

Check the train timetable and museum opening hours before departure on the railway museum website.
