Beaches

Van der Valk Den Haag - Wassenaar is close to the coast, offering a choice of several beaches nearby. The beaches and dunes are a delight in every season! In summer, you can cool down in the sea, enjoy the sun with your feet in the sand and a drink in your hand. In winter, you can get a breath of fresh air followed by a cup of hot chocolate.

There is also plenty of choice of luxury beach bars on all beaches, where you can have a drink on the terrace. Including enough space for the kids to play and build sandcastles. Dogs are allowed in most places, only in the summer period there are more restrictions, please check if dogs are welcome before you leave.

Scheveningen

Scheveningen beach is home to the famous Boulevard, Promenade and Pier. Several attractions can be found around the beach, such as the Beelden aan Zee museum, Sea Life and you can even bungee jump! Nightlife at Zwarte Pad is also vibrant and there is a Holland Casino and the AFAS Circustheater.

Wassenaarse Slag

The Meijendel nature reserve around the beach is an experience in itself: a path through the beautiful dunes takes you to the secluded beach entrance Wassenaarse Slag. A number of beach bars can be found here.

Katwijk

Katwijk's beach is clean and easily accessible. Many beach pavilions can be found from March to October.

Kijkduin

Kijkduin beach is the somewhat smaller-scale version of Scheveningen. In the middle of the dunes of Kijkduin you can find James Turrell's 'Heavenly Vault', an artificial crater made of grass, made to lie in and look at the sky.

Noordwijk

Noordwijk has a shopping street with nice boutiques. On the beach itself you can find cosy, trendy beach bars in summer, where you can also rent a sun bed.
