The museum has several works of art, but the absolute highlight is Scheveningen's Panorama Mesdag.
Panorama Mesdag
Panorama Mesdag, located in The Hague, is a unique cultural attraction that takes visitors back to the 19th century with one of the largest panoramic paintings in the world. Painted by the famous Dutch painter Hendrik Willem Mesdag, this impressive artwork, 14 metres high and 120 metres in circumference, offers a 360-degree view of the sea, the dunes and the fishing village of Scheveningen as it was in 1881.
The pavilion
Upon entering the purpose-built pavilion, visitors feel as if they are inside the artwork, surrounded by sand and views. This makes the panorama not only an artistic masterpiece, but also a technical marvel, with the play of light and perspective blurring the boundaries between painting and reality.
